Now that Windows SubSystem Linux is here, what if we want to drop straight from Windows File Explorer to, for example, the Ubuntu command line? So, assuming you have WSL already setup, type wsl straight into the Windows Explorer bar:

Pretty awesome right?

So now you can do all sorts of useful things straight on your Windows filesystem, but from Linux. Take for example this *.gz file I have, I don’t have 7-Zip installed on my Windows machine, but now I don’t need to bother installing it - as I can use the built-in gunzip support from Ubuntu:
